Creepy Vocabulary: dangle

dangle - to hang or swing freely

e.g It happened on the New Year's eve. Masha told Boris that she was leaving him because he was a loser with no steady job and a drinking problem. However, his love for Masha knew no bounds, so he decided to prove to her how much he loved her and hanged himself later on in the day. Masha was really disappointed when, upon coming back to their one-roomed apartment, she discovered his body dangling from the ceiling and a broken chair.

Question: What are some of your New Year Resolutions?

Creepy Vocabulary: Snag

Snag is a small problem or disadvantage.

E.g. Vera is a very intelligent girl. She spends a lot of her free time reading scientific sites. She has a powerful computer and fast broadband connection. But there is only one snag: she has no eyes and hands from now on. Her boyfriend got jealous, chopped off her hands and took out both her eyes out of her head using his grandfather's axe and pincers. Not funny, true. But at least she is alive and she can listen to the radio.

Question Do you ever get jealous and have the urge to hurt someone? If not, why? If yes, why, why, why, whyyyyy ......?

Creepy Vocabulary: nibble

Today is Catholic Xmas. Merry Christmas to those concerned.

nibble - to take small bites of sth, especially food

E.g. Dunyasha is so fat because she likes nibbling on chocolate bars all the time. She has recently met a nice guy who said "human flesh" was 'a whole new experience'. Together they stabbed Fyodor, Dunyasha's neighbour, to death, dismembered his body and put all the limbs into the fridge. But you know Dunyasha, don't you?  By the time this post is ready she must have devoured the body parts. She might be nibbling on one last remaining pinkie.  Gluttony is a sin, children.

Question: How often do you nibble between meals? Do you eat a lot of fatty (- high-caloried) food?

Creepy Vocabulary: over-the-counter

over-the-counter drugs can be obtained without a prescription (=a written order) from a doctor

e.g. Vasya is a drug addict. Last week he ran out of heroin and nearly killed himself because he was having severe cramps. (He was completely broke ... these junkies!) He was rescued by one of his druggies who cooked some powerful stuff using over-the-counter meds.

Grammar Comprehension: Did Vasya saw his arm himself you or have his friend to do it?

Question:
Have you ever resorted to using over-the-counter medicines in cases like the one in the example?

Creepy Vocabulary: Put one's foot in it

Today, my dear reader, we have a whole phrase for you!

Exactly!

put your foot in it - if you do this, you say something by accident which embarrasses or upsets someone

e.g. Mary really put her foot in it when she asked how Rita's husband was doing. She knew that Jack had died years before she started to put on weight, but somehow forgot about it.

Americans would say:

e.g. Mary also stuck her foot in her mouth when she asked Rita how far along she was, but she wasn't even pregnant and started crying.

Question: When did you last put your foot in it? Was it one foot or both your feet? Was it your foot?
